The club was saddened by the passing on Sunday of our foundation President, Barry Cuskelly.
Barry served as President from 1981-83 and was a tireless worker in leading and getting the club up and running. This huge task was accomplished in a mere 2-3 months!
In addition to being a major contributor to the clubs early success, Barry’s stated goals for the clubs survival were ; Flood lights on the bottom oval , Joining the VAFA, separate training and social rooms and fielding junior sides (under 19’s). All these goals were achieved in the first 10 years.
Barry retired from the Public Service in the late 1980’s and worked on the Maintenance staff at Aquinas College for some years, even serving for a short time again on our committee.
He suffered a debilitating stroke in 1999 and lived at Don Wood Nursing home in East Ringwood for over 10 years before living the last part of his life at Nazareth House in Camberwell .
We will be forever grateful for his contribution.
