I have asked the committee to call a Special General meeting (SGM) on Tuesday 22 March 2022 after presenting the meeting with a petition signed by 25 financial members supporting my request for a SGM (as required by our constitution).
It is my belief that we are in need of change around the process we currently have in the nomination, review and election of Life Members and I will be presenting the attached amendments at this SGM in order to have this section of our constitution changed. I don’t believe there is any consistency in our current process and as a current committee member I want to be able to stand up at an Annual General meeting when we have a nomination, for what I believe is the highest honour someone can receive from our club, and look everyone in the eye and say this nominee is as worthy as all that have come before him or her. I can’t do that as it currently stands.
