Practice Match Review
The first triple win of the season was achieved on Saturday as all three sides won in the final practice match of the season. The U19s accounted for La Trobe by 33 points in a Friday night match under lights and this will give them great confidence for the year ahead as La Trobe were one of the better sides last season. The Reserves easily beat Seville to the tune of 121 points and this game served as a good tune up for the season ahead. The Seniors also dominated Seville and if it weren’t for a very tight third quarter the margin would probably have been greater than 53 points.
Round 1 Review
After 34 training sessions and a weekend away on camp The Bloods are finally ready to hit the ground running for Season 2017. A huge preseason saw not one session drop below 50 players on the track between the Seniors and U19s. Since the beginning of March we have had 50+ Senior players alone so if one thing is for certain we will be very fit this season. Under new Coach Ash Naulty the group has been feeding off the positivity as we look to make amends for 2016 and begin our journey back up the grades. The sole aim for this season has been promotion since day 1 and this still remains. With a large group of players who are exuding talent and full of fitness we expect it to be a big year ahead. We want everybody to jump onboard starting tomorrow at home against Mt Lilydale.
We have a triple header to start the season as the U19s play Hampton Rovers at 9.20am, the Reserves then line up against Mt Lilydale at 11.40am before the Seniors run out at 2.00pm. We are expecting a huge crowd for what is promising to be a massive day at the club. A reminder that post match in the rooms we have Matt Darvidis (son of Jimmy) providing musical entertainment and the bar will be open late. Get down for what will be an awesome day and night.
